VICTORVILLE, Calif. — Two people have been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of 14-year-old Jeremy Rosales in Victorville last month, San Bernardino County authorities said.
The shooting occurred on Jan. 16 at Victorville Park, near Glen Canyon Lane and Burwood Avenue. After weeks of investigation, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBSD) announced the arrests on Monday.
Authorities identified 27-year-old Abel Ramirez and a 16-year-old Victorville boy, who has not been publicly named due to his age, as the suspects. The teenage suspect was taken to the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center, while Ramirez was booked at the High Desert Detention Center on $1 million bail. SBSD has not yet released a motive for the shooting.
Rosales’ family, friends, and football teammates held a candlelight vigil in his honor in the days following his death. “Jeremy was loved by so many people,” his sister Raylene Garcia said. “He touched so many hearts.” Rosales was remembered as a talented student and athlete with a bright future.
