STIGLER, Oklahoma — Two suspects have been arrested following a homicide investigation in Stigler, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).
The arrests came after deputies responded to a shooting call on April 5, 2025.
Upon arrival near Cass Road in rural Stigler, deputies found 56-year-old Tina Mitchell, who had suffered stab wounds and multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation identified 49-year-old Billy Mitchell as a suspect, who fled on foot, and 39-year-old Jack Swanda, who was injured and transported to a local hospital, according to the OSBI.
The OSBI, in collaboration with local law enforcement, launched a search for Billy Mitchell, who was later found hiding at a nearby property and arrested. After being released from the hospital, Swanda was also arrested, and both suspects were booked into the Haskell County Jail, the source stated.
During a subsequent search of the property, a second deceased individual was discovered. This person was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for further examination. The investigation remains ongoing, and the OSBI expressed gratitude to the Haskell County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for their assistance.
