On Thursday, police in Chennai made two significant arrests related to drug smuggling. The first was D Boobalan, a 21-year-old from Saligramam, who was arrested in Valasaravakkam for smuggling methamphetamine. Authorities recovered four grams of methamphetamine and a mobile phone from him. Boobalan, who was pursuing a visual communication course at a private college, was caught near Thanthai Periyar Park on RK Salai.
In a separate incident, Niyaz Ahmed, 25, from Thiruvanmiyur, was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) in JJ Nagar for smuggling cocaine. The arrest followed a lead from a previous case in which a man named Sree Appu was detained on January 31 for cocaine smuggling. Based on Appu’s confession, investigators tracked Niyaz Ahmed’s activities and arrested him.
The police continue to investigate these cases, with more arrests expected as they gather further information about the drug network.
