SAULT STE. MARIE, Ontario — Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the use of a stolen credit card, following a theft that occurred in the 500 block of John Street on January 14.
According to Sault Ste. Marie Police, a wallet and other belongings were stolen from a vehicle. Authorities believe a single person committed the initial theft and used the stolen credit card for several unauthorized purchases. A second individual later obtained the card and used it for additional fraudulent transactions.
Arrests and Charges
John Boyko, 34, was apprehended last Wednesday for allegedly using the stolen card after the initial theft. He faces two counts of possession of a credit card and has been released under conditions. Boyko is scheduled to appear in court on April 27.
Starla Hess, 30, was arrested the following Friday for allegedly committing the initial theft. Hess faces multiple charges, including:
Possession of Credit Card
Theft of Credit Card
Theft under $5,000
Use of Credit Card
Failure to Comply with Release Order (three counts)
Hess is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Police emphasize that all allegations are pending court review, and both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
