In a breakthrough in the Samastipur jewellery robbery case, Surat Police have arrested two key suspects nearly three months after a daring gold heist worth Rs 6 crore. The robbery, which took place at a jewellery showroom in Samastipur, Bihar, involved a gang of 13 robbers who managed to escape with 10 kg of gold ornaments and Rs 7 lakh in cash.
The two arrested suspects have been identified as Rahul Kumar alias Kalanag Paswan (21) and Chota Lawrence alias Gaganraj Rai (20). Both men are residents of Bihar and were hiding out in a rented apartment in Jolva village, located near Palsana, Surat. They were apprehended after Surat Police received a tip-off about their location.
Upon their arrest, the suspects reportedly confessed to being part of the gang responsible for the heist. Their involvement in the robbery was confirmed after detailed interrogation, during which they admitted to participating in the meticulously planned heist at the jewellery showroom.
Following their arrest, Surat Police coordinated with local authorities in Samastipur. A team was dispatched to Bihar, and the two men are expected to be handed over to the Bihar Police for further investigation and legal action.
The robbery in Samastipur had shocked local residents, as the suspects had managed to steal a significant amount of gold and cash. However, the swift action by Surat Police has brought some resolution to the case. Investigations are still underway to track down the remaining members of the gang, and authorities are hopeful that these arrests will lead to further breakthroughs in solving the case.
