Pune Rural Police recently apprehended two men, Yallappa Sutar (21) and Sandip Sonar (18), both from Pimpri Chinchwad, for their involvement in a series of pharmacy burglaries. The two are accused of breaking into five pharmacies in Shikrapur last month, making off with Rs1.27 lakh in cash.
The investigation led by Inspector Avinash Shilimkar revealed that Sutar and Sonar, along with a minor accomplice, committed the thefts in the early hours of February 11. Additionally, the trio attempted to break into two more medical shops but failed.
Further investigation connected the suspects to other similar burglaries in the Manchar, Yavat, and Uruli Kanchan areas. CCTV footage showed three individuals on a motorcycle involved in these crimes. Authorities also discovered that the motorcycle used by the burglars was missing a mudguard and often headed towards Pimpri Chinchwad after the robberies.
After a tip-off, the police took Sutar and Sonar into custody. During questioning, the two admitted their involvement in the burglaries, leading to further investigation and the detention of their accomplice. The police are continuing their efforts to gather more information about any additional thefts linked to this group.
