Two Arrested in Mahopac Bank Fraud Attempt

Alert teller spots suspected fake ID at credit union

Mahopac — An alert teller at Hudson Valley Credit Union helped prevent a suspected fraud attempt, leading to the arrest of two men on felony charges, according to **Anthony Hoffmann, chief of the Carmel Police Department.

Police said the teller became suspicious when a customer attempted to withdraw money using what appeared to be a fraudulent driver’s license. Authorities were notified, and an investigation led to the arrests of **Derrick Sutton, 39, of White Plains, and **Jordan Wright, 31, of Manhattan.

Both men were charged with identity theft, criminal possession of a forged instrument, attempted grand larceny, and criminal possession of stolen property.

The suspects were arraigned in Carmel Town Court and released without bail while awaiting future court proceedings. Officials said the top charges are felonies that carry potential prison sentences of up to seven years if the men are convicted.
