Two Arrested in International Drug Racket; Ties to ISI Spy Ring Revealed

Heroin Worth Rs 30 Lakh Seized; Links to Espionage and Hawala Uncovered

by Ananya Mehta

The Operation Cell of the UT police recently uncovered an international drug racket with the arrest of two individuals, Akashdeep Singh and Shamsher Singh. The authorities seized 297.40 grams of heroin, valued at nearly Rs 30 lakh, from the suspects.

Investigations revealed that the two were operating under the direction of Gurlal Singh, a notorious criminal currently incarcerated in Punjab’s Goindwal Sahib Jail. Financial trails have also pointed to their involvement in hawala transactions, through which they were funneling drug money to Pakistan.

Further inquiries uncovered links between Gurlal Singh, Shamsher Singh, and an ISI-led espionage operation in Rajasthan. The suspects allegedly had contact with Bhawani Singh, a railway official who was honey-trapped by a Pakistani agent. Singh had leaked sensitive details about the Indian Army in exchange for money. Financial transactions between Singh and the arrested individuals have been traced, and the Rajasthan Police has been alerted.

During a raid at Shamsher Singh’s village near the Pakistan border, the police discovered a country-made pistol, drug money, and a Swift car used in criminal activities. The investigation into the case is still ongoing.
