The Southampton Town Police Department has announced the arrest of two individuals, Demario L. Weston Jr., 22, and Tiana MacDonald, 24, in connection with the armed robbery at El Quetzal Deli in Flanders on September 23, 2024.

According to police reports, at around noon on that day, a man entered the deli, pointed a gun at the clerk, and demanded money. The suspect physically attacked the clerk, striking her with the gun multiple times before making off with $6,000 in cash.

The arrests were the result of an extensive investigation involving multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Southampton Town Police Detective Division and the Suffolk County District Attorney’s East End Drug Task Force. The investigation led to the identification and arrest of Weston, who was taken into custody following a search warrant executed at a Farmingville residence. MacDonald was also arrested during the operation.

During the search, police recovered an illegally possessed handgun and a quantity of controlled substances. Weston was charged with multiple offenses, including two counts of First-Degree Robbery, Second-Degree Robbery, Assault, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and more related to the September robbery. Further charges stemmed from the presence of illicit narcotics and a child in the home, leading to additional counts, such as Criminal Possession of Controlled Substances and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

MacDonald faces similar charges, including Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Weapon Possession, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Both suspects were processed and held at the Southampton Town Police Department, with their future court appearances pending.
