The City Crime Branch has arrested Sanjay Vaishnav (37) and Shailesh Jadav (33) for allegedly stealing gold and cash worth Rs 52 lakh from a shop in Manek Chowk, located in the Walled City area. The theft occurred on October 22, and a third suspect, Shintu Chakrawarti from Shahpur, Ahmedabad, remains at large.
The burglary was reported by the shop owner, who locked the shop in Sankdi Sheri around midnight on October 22. When workers arrived the next morning, they discovered the break-in. A case was registered with the Khadia Police.
The investigation revealed that the accused gained entry through the shop’s washroom by cutting the window grill. They stole six gold bars, each weighing 100g, valued at Rs 48 lakh, along with Rs 4 lakh in cash.
Following the arrests, the police recovered the stolen gold bars and Rs 25,000 in cash from the suspects.
