In a breakthrough on Thursday, two individuals were apprehended for allegedly robbing Rs 19.51 lakh from a bank in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. According to police reports, the arrested suspects, identified as Mohd Yasin and Bilal Ahmed, were taken into custody following a successful investigation.
The robbery, which occurred on February 3, was reported by the branch manager of a bank in Dachhan, who filed a complaint about the theft of Rs 19.51 lakh. Based on the FIR filed at the Dachhan police station, a special investigation team was formed to probe the case.
Police confirmed that Rs 14 lakh of the stolen money has been recovered, thanks to the information provided by the arrested suspects. The investigation revealed that the accused attempted to destroy evidence by burning their clothes, shoes, and the bag containing the stolen cash. However, law enforcement managed to track down the perpetrators and make the arrests.
While the stolen amount is still being traced, police officials have assured that efforts are underway to recover the remaining money. A case has been filed, and further investigation is ongoing.
