Two Arrested for Hanuman Temple Idol Theft in Madhepura

15-kg Ashtadhatu idol and puja items recovered by police

Madhepura police have recovered a 15-kg Ashtadhatu idol along with other puja items stolen from the Hanuman temple in the Bharahi police station area on January 5. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft.

According to ASP Pravendra Bharti, the idol and other items were stolen from the Hanuman temple in Maruwaha village. Acting on technical investigation and secret intelligence inputs, a special police team conducted raids at various locations, leading to the arrest of Mohd Altaf, alias Kaif, and Roshan.

During interrogation, both accused confessed their involvement and disclosed that two other youths had also participated in the crime. Based on their information, police recovered the stolen Ashtadhatu idol, a broken bell, and several brass and copper puja utensils.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure the stolen religious items are returned to the temple.
