Two individuals, Karla Grove, 25, and John Jackson, 44, from Bremen, Kentucky, have been arrested and charged with multiple offenses after a welfare check at the Horseshoe Acres Campground in Muhlenberg County. The investigation began when a school resource officer grew concerned about the safety of an eight-year-old student and his two-year-old sister.
During the welfare check, authorities discovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia scattered throughout the camper where the children were staying. The camper was also found to be in deplorable condition, with dog feces, trash, spoiled food, dirty diapers, and alcohol bottles strewn about, and no running water available.
The Department of Community-Based Services took the children into protective custody for their safety. Grove and Jackson were arrested and now face charges including Wanton Endangerment, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
