Two Arrested for Attempted Metal Theft in Jasper County

Monte Joseph Rollan and Cody Allen Mick arrested for attempting to steal AT&T telephone wire

JASPER COUNTY, Texas — On Wednesday afternoon, two men were arrested for attempting to steal metal from the ground in Jasper County. The suspects, Monte Joseph Rollan, 29, and Cody Allen Mick, 38, both from Jasper, were apprehended after law enforcement responded to suspicious activity reports in the north end of the county.

Sheriff Chuck Havard confirmed that Sergeant Kasey Hawthorne was dispatched to the area of County Road 245 at Highway 96, where he found the two men attempting to remove large AT&T telephone wire from the ground. The wire, which was owned by AT&T, had been targeted for theft.

Rollan and Mick were taken into custody and charged with State Jail Felony Theft of Material. Both suspects have extensive criminal histories, with multiple arrests over the years.

The suspects are currently being held at the Jasper County Jail.
