In a tragic case of domestic violence, Keonjhar police have arrested Tukulu Munda (42) for the murder of his wife, Janaki Munda (30), following a heated altercation at their home in Barbil Gadahatting.
Both Tukulu and Janaki were daily-wage labourers and parents to seven children. On Monday night, the couple got into a verbal spat, which escalated into violence. Tukulu allegedly assaulted Janaki with his hands and a wooden stick, leading to her instant death.
Upon receiving the report, Barbil police arrived at the scene and seized the blood-soaked stick used in the assault. Janaki’s body was sent to the Community Health Centre in Barbil for autopsy.
“A scientific team inspected the site, and the weapon was seized as evidence. Tukulu Munda was produced in court following his arrest,” said Ashok Nayak, IIC of Barbil Police Station.
The tragic case highlights the grim reality of unresolved domestic conflict in rural households and the consequences of unchecked violence.
