Albany, NY — An 18-year-old from Troy, Christian Keith, has been charged in connection with two separate shooting incidents in Albany over an eight-month period, as announced by Albany County District Attorney Lee C. Kindlon.
Keith was arraigned on Wednesday following an indictment that includes two counts of attempted murder, two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, and one count of tampering with physical evidence.
The first shooting occurred on July 30, 2024, when Albany Police responded to a shooting near the intersection of Clinton Avenue and Lark Street. Officers found a 30-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the back. The victim survived and was rushed to Albany Medical Center for surgery. After conducting interviews and reviewing video surveillance, police identified Keith as a suspect, but they were initially unable to locate him.
The second incident took place on March 11, around 1:45 PM. Police were called to Lark Drive near Manning Boulevard after reports of shots fired. Officers discovered that a gun had been fired at a person inside a vehicle. Detectives later observed a vehicle used by the suspect to flee and stopped it near Sheridan Avenue and Chapel Street. Keith was apprehended shortly afterward.
Keith pleaded not guilty to the charges on Wednesday and was released on a $100,000 bond. Assistant District Attorney Stephen Lydon of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.
