AUSTIN, Texas — A 17-year-old has been arrested in connection with a March 30 shooting that left four people injured inside Lit Lounge, a bar on Austin’s popular Sixth Street.
Troy Tanksley, 17, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault in a mass shooting. He is currently being held at the Travis County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
Austin police responded to the shooting at approximately 1:02 a.m. at 215 E 6th Street. Upon arrival, they found four individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. All victims reported they were shot inside the bar, though thankfully, none sustained life-threatening injuries.
This incident was one of three shootings in Austin within a 32-hour period at the time.
Following the shooting, Lit Lounge owner Anh Tran released a public statement emphasizing the club’s dedication to patron safety. Tran noted that the shooting was an isolated incident and assured the public that the venue has trained, licensed security and established safety protocols, including pat-downs by third-party professionals.
Lit Lounge is currently reviewing and enhancing its security measures in collaboration with law enforcement to ensure such incidents do not happen again.
Tanksley’s arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation.
