BATON ROUGE, La. — Deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office have arrested a man accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of merchandise from Bath & Body Works stores, authorities said.
According to EBRSO, Tristan Idlebird was taken into custody after allegedly stealing $1,026.15 in products, including candles, lotion, and body spray. The arrest was made as part of the sheriff’s Winter Blast Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Operation, which focuses on cracking down on retail theft rings.
In a social media post, deputies described the stolen merchandise as including “a lot of candles,” “a whole lot of lotion,” and enough body spray “to be noticed from a mile away.”
Idlebird was booked on charges of theft and illegal possession of stolen property. Authorities also said he is listed as a fugitive from Texas for unrelated theft-related charges.
During the arrest, deputies seized a cell phone, and photos released by the sheriff’s office showed a large quantity of recovered Bath & Body Works products.
“No amount of fragrance could cover up this crime,” EBRSO said in a statement.
