The Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Latur district police has arrested three habitual offenders involved in a series of highway robberies on the Renapur and Latur highways. The police recovered 94g of gold ornaments, valued at approximately Rs6.76 lakh, from the accused.
The arrested individuals are Amol Subhash Rathod (27), Abhay alias Rahul Santosh Chavan (21), both residents of Nehrunagar Tanda, Renapur Taluka, and Krishna Rajubhau Dhamale (25), a resident of Borwati, Latur district. Their arrests followed a robbery incident where the trio targeted a couple on the Latur highway, robbing them of their valuables.
Following a manhunt, the police apprehended the suspects and seized the stolen gold ornaments, which were handed over to the Renapur police station for further investigation. According to Superintendent of Police Somay Munde, the arrests have helped solve at least two armed robbery cases in the area. The police are now investigating whether the accused were involved in additional crimes.
The trio was reportedly involved in stopping vehicles on highways, intimidating passengers, and stealing gold ornaments. The police have recovered 94g of gold, worth Rs6.76 lakh, from their possession.
