Trichy: Two youths, including a juvenile, were arrested for breaking into a house in Thillai Nagar and stealing silver valuables while the homeowners were away.
The house, managed by the son-in-law S Sudharsan (51) from Thiruverumbur, was locked on October 9 but discovered to be burglarized on Saturday evening. Missing were two silver idols, six silver coins, and a silver dollar.
CCTV footage helped identify the suspects as K Vijayaraj (19) and a 17-year-old from Cauvery Nagar near Mutharasanalur. The police registered a case under Sections 331(4) (trespass) and 305(a) (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Vijayaraj was remanded to judicial custody, while the juvenile was sent to an observation home by the Juvenile Justice Board. The stolen items were recovered and returned to the caretaker.
