MEMPHIS — Travis Davison, 44, who claimed to be the boyfriend of Jessica Nicole Rios, is facing multiple charges related to stolen vehicles and counterfeit vehicle identification numbers (VINs), according to Memphis Police Department (MPD) reports.
Davison was charged with three counts of theft of property, two counts of altering a motor vehicle serial number, possession of drugs, and being a convicted felon in possession of a weapon. Rios is also implicated in the case.
Earlier last month, Davison faced attempted second-degree murder charges after allegedly orchestrating the arson of his estranged wife’s car while she was inside. Rios was accused of instructing a man to set fire to the vehicle, but charges against both were later dropped due to lack of probable cause.
On August 11, MPD’s auto theft task force assisted in executing a search warrant at the Davies Plantation residence after counterfeit VIN stickers were discovered in the master bathroom. Officers also seized marijuana, pills, digital scales, two handguns, and ammunition.
Investigators found multiple stolen vehicles with counterfeit VINs parked at the property: a 2019 white Ford F450 reported stolen in Memphis in August 2021, a white Chevrolet Tahoe reported stolen from Avis rentals in Los Angeles in June 2024, and a 2018 black Dodge Challenger stolen in Memphis in April 2025.
Davison claimed ownership of the Tahoe, stating it was gifted to him in 2021. Rios admitted to driving the stolen Tahoe.
Rios was released on a $25,000 bond, while Davison, initially held on unrelated warrants, was released on a $100,000 bond.
