CHATTANOOGA, TN — Three Chattanooga men were arrested following a dangerous high-speed police chase that ended in a crash, according to an affidavit obtained by the newsroom.
The incident began when officers attempted to pull over a speeding vehicle on Holtzclaw Avenue. Instead of stopping, the driver fled, leading police on a chase down Amnicola Highway and Highway 153, reportedly reaching speeds up to 120 miles per hour.
The chase ended dramatically when the vehicle struck a guardrail, crossed four lanes of traffic, and crashed into another barrier. Police found the driver, Travale Davenport, lying on the ground. Two passengers, Isaiah Jones and Tyeis Johnson, were also apprehended.
All three men told officers they had been drinking “lean,” a narcotic-laced beverage made with Promethazine. Officers recovered multiple firearms, nearly 30 grams of various narcotics, and three empty bottles labeled Promethazine Hydrochloride.
The trio faces multiple felony charges and remains in custody.
