VILLAGE OF MONARCH GROVE, Fla. — A local woman was arrested after allegedly stealing jewelry from a store at Brownwood Paddock Square.

Tracey Ann Chartier, 57, is facing theft charges after authorities say she took approximately $600 worth of bracelets from Kylie’s Closet on Jan. 26. According to the Wildwood Police Department, Chartier allegedly concealed the jewelry in her purse.

While in the store, she reportedly mentioned to an employee that she worked at Spartina 449, another Brownwood store, and bragged about her clothing and work schedule. After the theft, surveillance photos were shared with Spartina 449, where Chartier was positively identified by a manager.

When officers visited her home, Chartier’s husband told police she may suffer from kleptomania and had stolen from stores previously while living in Rhode Island. Chartier returned the bag of jewelry, which still had the price tags attached.

She was arrested on a theft charge and booked into the Sumter County Detention Center.
