Peel Regional Police have charged 19-year-old Toronto man Nyah Lapierre with human trafficking and firearm-related offences. The investigation began in April following allegations of a victim involved in the sex trade within the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
The accused is accused of recruiting and exploiting the victim into the sex trade, seizing her earnings, and relocating her within the GTA over a span of five months. At the time of his arrest, Lapierre was reportedly in possession of a loaded .45-calibre handgun and accompanied by another individual, later identified as a second victim.
Nyah Lapierre was initially charged on April 7 with 16 offences, including assault and two counts of failure to comply with a release order. Additionally, on Friday, he faced five new charges, four of which relate to a person under 18 years of age.
Peel Regional Police continue their investigation as Lapierre faces serious charges related to exploitation and criminal activity.
