MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Two convicted felons, Tony Robinson, 38, and Michael Francis, 41, were arrested on Tuesday after a theft turned into a high-speed pursuit in southern Miami-Dade County, authorities said.

According to Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office (M-DCSO) detectives, the duo allegedly worked together to steal $10,000 from a parked pickup truck. The incident unfolded around 3 p.m. when Robinson smashed the window of a Ford F-250 to access the cash that had been withdrawn by the truck’s owner from the bank.

A detective followed the suspects, who were in a white Chrysler Pacifica with Kentucky plates. Robinson was the passenger, and Francis, who has a history of violent offenses, was the driver. The two were tracked from a gas station on South Dixie Highway to a nearby tire shop, where the theft occurred.

After the theft, Robinson fled to the minivan, and Francis sped off, trying to evade detectives. The chase ended when two detectives intercepted the vehicle near Palmetto Bay. A search by K9 Xena uncovered the stolen $10,000 hidden in the vehicle.

Robinson has been charged with burglary and grand theft, with a bond set at $2,500. Francis faces a charge of accessory after the fact, also with a $2,500 bond. The case is set to be presided over by Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Carlos Gamez.
