Tohana Police Arrest Krishan Kumar & Jai Bhagwan in Opium Smuggling Bust

Nearly 2 kg opium seized during Drug-Free India Fortnight crackdown

During the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Pakhwara” (Drug-Free India Fortnight), Tohana CIA staff made a significant drug bust by apprehending two men carrying nearly 1.897 kg of opium, valued at approximately Rs 4 lakh. The police also seized the Swift car used for smuggling the narcotics.

The accused were identified as Krishan Kumar, alias Kalu Ram, and Jai Bhagwan, both hailing from Pinjupura village. Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by ASI Surender Kumar set up a checkpoint near Surya College in Baliala village. The suspected vehicle was stopped and searched, revealing the hidden consignment of opium.

Upon questioning, the accused admitted their intent to distribute the narcotics further. DSP Umed Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act at the Sadar Police Station, Tohana. The investigation is ongoing to identify additional members involved in the drug smuggling network.
