Todd Bolden Jr. Convicted of 2023 Battle Creek Murders

Jury finds him guilty of double murder and home invasion

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — A jury has found Todd Bolden Jr., 25, guilty of murdering two people in Battle Creek in December 2023.

On Tuesday, Bolden was convicted of all five charges, including two counts of murder, two counts of felony firearm, and home invasion.

The incident occurred on Dec. 16, 2023, when Battle Creek Police Department officers responded to a home on Algonquin Street around 6 p.m. for a report of a breaking and entering. Dispatchers reportedly heard gunshots while on the call.

Officers arrived to find Veronica Cica, 22, dead from gunshot wounds, and her father, Steven Cica, 44, critically injured. He died the following day at a hospital.

According to Veronica’s brother, Austin, Bolden is the father of her children. Court records indicate that he is scheduled to be sentenced on March 2, 2026.
