PERTH, WA — Tobias Marcus Nuttall, a 32-year-old podcaster known for his conspiracy-themed show, has been charged with murder following the death of a 30-year-old woman in the Perth suburb of Bassendean.
Nuttall appeared in custody at Midland Magistrates Court, dressed in a blue jumpsuit. He only spoke to confirm his name. No bail was granted, and he will remain in custody until his next court appearance at Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on September 17.
WA Police said emergency services were called to a home on Reid Street just after midday on Wednesday. They found a woman with critical injuries, who was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she later died. The woman is believed to have been known to Nuttall.
The WA Police Homicide Squad is leading the investigation. Authorities cordoned off the scene while gathering evidence.
Nuttall co-hosts a podcast exploring themes like conspiracy theories, the occult, and spirituality. A description of the show claims to “pull back the curtains of the mundane to reveal a world bubbling with mysteries, hidden agendas, and esoteric knowledge.”
An episode was posted the same night as the alleged murder. Nuttall’s co-host told listeners that he was absent due to travel, saying, “Toby had an appointment… and he was flying back from Sydney to Perth today.” The co-host later addressed the charges, stating, “Toby has been charged with a very, very serious offence.”
Members of Nuttall’s family were present at the court hearing.
The case continues as police investigate the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
