DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) — Former Alabama Crimson Tide and NFL running back TJ Yeldon was arrested over the weekend on domestic violence charges, according to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a residence on the 28000 block of Highway 181 around 1 a.m. on August 16 after receiving a 911 call during which operators could hear what was believed to be a domestic dispute between a male and a female.
When deputies arrived, they said the man inside turned off all the lights and refused to answer the door. The female caller had reportedly locked herself in a bedroom prior to their arrival, but deputies said the man then attempted to force his way into the room.
Authorities attempted to make forced entry, at which point the male subject opened the door and was detained.
The man was identified as Timothy “TJ” Yeldon, a Daphne native and former football standout. After evaluating the situation, deputies arrested him.
Yeldon faces charges of:
Third-degree domestic violence
Third-degree criminal mischief
Interfering with a domestic violence emergency call
According to jail records, Yeldon was released later on a $2,000 bond.
Yeldon starred as a running back at Daphne High School and later with the Alabama Crimson Tide, helping lead the team to success during his college career. He was later drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars and also played for the Buffalo Bills in the NFL.
