Detectives have arrested two individuals, Titus Zing Mayo, 21, and Niquerial Battle, 21, both from Waldorf, in connection with a series of crimes including passing counterfeit money, burglary, and possession of stolen vehicles.

The investigation began on February 24, 2025, when a male suspect used a counterfeit bill at a fast-food drive-through in Waldorf’s Mall Circle. The cashier immediately recognized the bill as fraudulent but also noticed what appeared to be a firearm in the suspect’s lap. Fearing for safety, the cashier complied with the transaction and gave the suspect cash change before alerting the Sheriff’s Office.

Officers quickly located the suspect’s BMW nearby and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The car was later found abandoned on Mattawoman Lane, where officers discovered altered VIN numbers and what appeared to be fake currency on the ground near the vehicle. The BMW was impounded, and a search warrant revealed documents with a potential suspect’s name and multiple counterfeit bills. The vehicle was also found to be stolen from another county.

As detectives worked to identify the suspect, they discovered a male matching his description targeting a storage lot where the stolen BMW had been impounded. Surveillance footage showed the suspect repeatedly accessing the lot, where he even entered the BMW without taking any items, although he left behind incriminating evidence.

Through further investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Titus Zing Mayo. Niquerial Battle, his accomplice, was also identified. Arrest warrants were issued for both suspects on March 13, 2025. On March 14, Battle was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit burglary, theft, and other related crimes. She was later released on an unsecured bond.

On March 19, Neighborhood Enforcement Officers spotted Mayo driving a stolen Chevrolet Corvette in the area of St. Ignatius and Village Street. Officers attempted to stop Mayo, but he fled again. The following day, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force, Mayo was located operating the same Chevrolet Corvette, which was also reported stolen from Charles County. He was apprehended without further incident.

A search warrant executed at Mayo’s residence led to the recovery of over $12,000 in counterfeit bills and an extended handgun magazine. Detectives also linked Mayo to other counterfeit currency cases involving pizza carry-outs in the county.

Mayo has been charged with burglary, possession and distribution of forged U.S. currency, auto theft, and related crimes. He is currently held at the Charles County Detention Center without bond. Detectives are continuing to work with other law enforcement agencies to determine whether Mayo is connected to other similar crimes. Detective Chadbourne is handling the investigation.
