LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) — A London man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after a high-risk drug bust led to the seizure of over six ounces of methamphetamine, according to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office.
The arrest of 35-year-old Timothy Hampton followed a joint investigation involving the sheriff’s narcotics and general investigations units along with agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Officers executed a search warrant at a home on Newt’s Way, roughly four miles south of London, around 12:20 p.m.
When law enforcement arrived, Hampton initially refused to exit the residence. Deputies used a PA system to convince him to surrender peacefully. During the standoff, investigators say Hampton attempted to flush meth down the toilet, but failed.
Inside the home, detectives found glass pipes with meth residue and digital scales, along with the meth supply. Hampton was taken into custody and now faces multiple charges, including:
Trafficking in a controlled substance (meth, first offense)
Tampering with physical evidence
Possession of drug paraphernalia
Parole violation
Failure to appear on a separate drug-related charge
He was booked into the Laurel County Correctional Center, and the DEA has adopted the case for possible federal prosecution.
Sheriff John Root praised the operation as a “textbook perfect” execution, noting that no injuries occurred during the arrest.
