RALEIGH — A Wake Crossroads couple has been arrested by special agents from the North Carolina Department of Insurance on charges of insurance fraud and attempting to obtain property by false pretense, both felonies.
Timothy Darnell Montague Jr. and Akira Veneta Montague, both 22, are accused of submitting false documents related to stolen property in order to collect more than $3,060 in rental insurance payments from American National Insurance Company.
According to a press release from the N.C. Department of Insurance, the alleged offenses took place between September 4, 2019, and April 2 at the couple’s residence on Bergstrom Drive in Raleigh.
Timothy Montague was issued a $5,000 bond, while Akira Montague received a $6,000 secured bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Wake County District Court on September 14.
