A Mississippi woman is facing additional charges after pretending to be another person following her arrest in Rankin County.
According to investigators, Tiffany Rochelle Burnside was pulled over and arrested on September 24 after a traffic stop conducted by a Puckett police officer. Authorities say Burnside provided a false identity during her arrest, booking, fingerprinting, and even throughout the bonding process at the Rankin County Detention Center.
On October 1, Rankin County investigators were notified of Burnside’s deception and contacted the bonding company that had helped secure her release.
“They agreed to have her meet with them,” said Investigator Tyler Burnell of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department. “When Burnside arrived at the location, she continued posing as the other female even after law enforcement detained her.”
Investigators later learned that Burnside is on parole in Virginia and also wanted on charges in Indiana.
She is now facing multiple charges in Rankin County, including making false official statements or representations, identity theft, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and disorderly conduct.
Authorities say the case highlights the persistence of law enforcement in identifying individuals attempting to evade justice through false identities.
