In a major drug bust, Thrissur excise officials seized eight kilograms of cannabis near Kokkala, close to Thrissur railway station on Saturday morning.
Two individuals, Yesanthan and Meher Pradhan, both from Odisha, were apprehended in possession of the contraband. The cannabis, packed in four bundles and carried in two bags, is suspected to have been smuggled from Odisha by train.
Authorities estimated the illegal stock to be worth several lakhs in the black market. Investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and identify any accomplices involved in the smuggling operation
