The Museum police in Kerala arrested three temporary women employees of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare at Thycaud on Tuesday, in connection with the abuse of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl at the institution.
The accused individuals—Ajitha, Maheswari, and Smitha—were charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The charges include Section 6 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault) and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, which addresses the physical assault of children under the care of such institutions.
The case highlights the need for stronger vigilance in child welfare institutions to prevent the abuse of vulnerable children.
