In a police encounter on Wednesday night, three thieves were arrested by the Ajgain Kotwali Police in Unnao district after a dramatic attempt to flee during a planned theft.
The incident took place near Usraha turn on the Ajgain-Mohan road, where the suspects attempted to escape and opened fire at the police. In response, the police returned fire, injuring one of the criminals, Niyaz alias Sonu from Gangaghat Kotwali’s Gangapar area. He sustained a bullet injury to his leg and was arrested. His two accomplices, Irfan Ahmed from Lavkush Nagar, Indira Nagar, Ghazipur (Lucknow), and Milan Verma from Chittakheda Malviya Nagar, Bazar Khala, Lucknow, were also apprehended.
According to Hasan Ganj CO Santosh Singh, Sonu was admitted to Nawabganj CHC for medical treatment. Further investigation and legal action are being pursued in the case.
