Three Nicaraguan Nationals Arrested in Postville Identity Theft Case

Suspects Charged with Forgery & Possession of Fake IDs

POSTVILLE, Iowa – Three Nicaraguan nationals were arrested on Friday, March 1, 2025, as part of an identity theft and forgery investigation led by the Postville Police Department and Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in the 12000 block of 100th Street in Postville, where they discovered fraudulent documents.

Arrested Suspects & Charges:
Dennis Mercado Perez – Identity Theft & Forgery
Enock Mercado Velasquez – Forgery & Possession of a Fictitious ID
David Haylan Mercado – Forgery & Possession of a Fictitious ID
All three suspects were taken to the Clayton County Jail. The investigation is ongoing.
