NEWPORT NEWS, VA (WAVY) — Three men were sentenced to life in prison for their involvement in a series of brutal crimes in Newport News during 2017, including five murders, robberies, car thefts, and high-speed chases.
The convicted men are Ronzel Dixie, 31, also known as “Wavy 10,” Kwaimain Redmon, 30, and Meko Brown Jr., 26, who were involved in a crime spree from January through November 2017. Among their victims were a store owner, robbery victims, and even a homeless man, whom Dixie shot after a gun jammed during a robbery. The spree included at least seven shootings and multiple violent robberies across several Virginia cities.
One of the most chilling details was when Dixie, nicknamed “Wavy 10,” killed a man just to reach a personal goal of having “10 bodies to his name.”
The spree began on January 16, 2017, and continued until November 2017, when the suspects carried out armed robberies, including targeting drug dealers, and committed car thefts, often fleeing from police during high-speed chases.
On October 16, 2017, Dixie and Redmon murdered a motorcyclist outside Hoss’s Deli in Newport News before robbing the victim’s wallet. Later that day, the two men, along with another suspect, killed three individuals during separate robberies, including shooting a store owner and an employee at a Happy Shopper convenience store.
Further crimes included the robbery of a MetroPCS store, shootings, and the murder of a homeless man. The crime spree ended in November 2017, when the men were apprehended.
The men were sentenced to life in prison for their heinous actions. WAVY News has reached out for more information on any additional individuals involved in the crimes.
