Three Foreigners Arrested for Attempting to Fraudulently Obtain Ugandan Passports

Three foreigners have been arrested in Kampala for attempting to illegally acquire Ugandan passports, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The suspects were intercepted on Tuesday while trying to obtain passports at the Immigration office in Kampala Central.

The first suspect, Rahman Adam Bolakale, a Nigerian national, attempted to use a fraudulent National ID under the name Makenke Rahman Adam. Despite holding a valid Nigerian passport, he falsely claimed to be a Mufumbira with a Mufumbira father and Muganda mother in his application for a Ugandan passport.

The two other suspects, Sah Cruz Nyimaneke and Sah Yuri Kor-Nyui, both Cameroonians, also tried to deceive immigration officers by presenting fraudulent National IDs. They claimed to be Baganda twins, despite holding valid Cameroonian passports.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed that its legal team, along with other agencies, is thoroughly investigating the trio in preparation for their prosecution. The Ministry reassured the public that Uganda’s passport system is secure and that such fraudulent activities are regularly identified and stopped.

In light of the arrests, the Ministry has issued a warning to the public, particularly Ugandans, advising them against assisting foreigners in acquiring passports fraudulently. Legal consequences will be imposed on anyone found involved in such activities. The Ministry encourages anyone with information on similar fraud cases to report them promptly.

The investigation into these passport fraud attempts is ongoing, and further updates will follow as the legal process continues.
