Three engineering students, aged in their early 20s, were arrested by officials from the Prohibition and Excise Department in Hyderabad on Thursday for possessing illegal drugs. The trio — Charan Tej, Kaushik Thuboti, and Syed Sarfaraz — all studying engineering in Chennai, had become addicted to drugs during their stay there.
The arrest came after a tip-off, leading excise officers to catch the trio in Madhapur, where they were found in possession of 30 LSD blots. Investigations revealed that the students had sourced the drugs from a supplier named Arun Raj in Chennai and brought them to Hyderabad with the intent of distributing them to local drug users.
The seized drugs were valued at approximately Rs70,000, but the accused had planned to sell them at a significantly higher price to addicts in the city. Following the arrest, a case was filed at the Jubilee Hills excise police station. The three individuals were produced before a court and sent into judicial custody.
This operation underscores the ongoing crackdown on drug-related activities in Hyderabad, as law enforcement continues to target both local and interstate drug trafficking networks.
