Three Chinese Nationals Charged with 26kg Meth Trafficking

George Town Court Denies Bail for Drug Trafficking Case

GEORGE TOWN — Three Chinese nationals, Xie Zhouji, 38, Zhang Mea, 32, and Chen Cheng, 36, were charged in George Town magistrates’ court today for trafficking 26 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The charges stem from an incident on Dec. 20 at the Adorna Gold Complex apartment at 10 p.m. No plea was recorded as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The trio was charged under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries the death penalty or life imprisonment and a minimum of 12 strokes of the rotan upon conviction.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Ahmad Danial Amir Saad did not offer bail, and the court denied the request. The next court mention is scheduled for Feb. 25, 2026, pending the chemistry report.
