Three people were arrested in Bulloch County after a traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs and stolen personal identification documents. The traffic stop occurred when Bulloch County Sheriff’s Deputy Joseph Shannon pulled over a vehicle with no tag at the intersection of South College and Mikell Street.
The driver, identified as Joshua Andrew Weaver, was contacted by Deputy Shannon. During the stop, Deputy Walter French deployed his K-9 partner, Axel, for an open-air sniff of the vehicle. K-9 Axel responded with a positive alert, indicating the presence of illegal drugs in the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered methamphetamine, a Schedule II controlled substance, and numerous personal identification documents belonging to several victims, including driver’s licenses and personal checks.
Weaver was arrested and charged with a range of offenses, including drug possession, identity theft, and forgery. Investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Suppression Team were called in and launched an investigation, which led to the arrests of two additional individuals—Dale Curtis Wigand and Kristie Marie Hunt.
