The anti-narcotics task force of Chandigarh Police has successfully arrested three individuals, including two foreign nationals, for their involvement in drug peddling activities. The case was initiated following an FIR registered on May 1 under Sections 21 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

The operation began on April 30, when ASI Narinder Pal, while patrolling near Govt Model High School in Sector-38 West, Chandigarh, received a tip-off about an individual named Ashwani Kumar alias Ashu. Acting on the information, the police swiftly apprehended Ashwani Kumar and seized 14.83g of heroin, Rs 5,000 in drug money, and two mobile phones from his possession.

During his interrogation, Kumar revealed the names of his accomplices. Based on his statements, the police arrested Joe Joshap, a Nigerian national, on May 1 in Shivalik City, Kharar. Authorities recovered 9.77g of ice-amphetamine from Joshap.

The investigation further led to the arrest of Rehema Nabusuulwa alias Martha alias Branda, a Ugandan national, on May 3 from Sector-127, Mohali. Nabusuulwa was found with 11.93g of ice-amphetamine, two mobile phones, and a digital weighing scale.

The trio allegedly sourced the narcotics from suppliers based in Delhi. Following their arrest, they were presented in court and remanded to judicial custody.

This significant bust underscores the ongoing efforts by Chandigarh Police to combat the growing threat of drug trafficking in the region.
