Three Arrested in Rs50 Lakh Diamond Robbery in Surat

Three individuals, including a diamond broker, were arrested on Monday by the Mahidharpura police in Surat for allegedly cheating a diamond trader of Rs50.89 lakh.

The victim, Praful Malaviya, who runs “Dhanani Exports,” a diamond trading office in Surat’s Mahidharpura area, filed a complaint against the suspects — Harsh Mehta, Laxman Munia, and Bharat Prajapati, all residents of Surat.

According to Malaviya’s complaint, the fraud began in December when Harsh Mehta visited his house and arranged a phone call from men who pretended to be diamond merchants. Mehta also had Malaviya speak to Munia and Prajapati, who posed as diamond buyers.

After further investigation, police have booked the trio under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for fraud, cheating, and other offenses related to the incident.
