Three Arrested in Marshalltown Credit Card Fraud Scam

Suspects charged with multiple offenses, investigation ongoing

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — The Marshalltown Police Department has arrested three men as part of an investigation into a credit card fraud scheme, which began in late December 2024. The scam was first reported on December 23, 2024, when local authorities received complaints of fraudulent credit card charges and the discovery of a skimming device.

On December 31, 2024, officers successfully located a skimming device attached to a gas pump at a Casey’s store on West Lincoln Way. As of January 3, 2025, over 30 individuals reported unauthorized charges on their accounts, with several victims claiming their cards were used at Walmart on Center Street and the Git N Go on West Lincoln Way.

After reviewing surveillance footage, investigators identified the suspects, leading to arrests on January 2 and 3, 2025.

Arrests and Charges:

Alieski Perez Hernandez, 38, of Florida, was arrested and charged with identity theft under $1,500 and third-degree theft.
Yohannis Bacardi Bague, 30, of Missouri, faces charges of identity theft over $10,000, first-degree theft, and unauthorized credit card use over $10,000.
Oscar Rodriguez Alcaraz, 26, of Florida, was arrested and charged similarly to Bague.
The Marshalltown Police Department has indicated that the investigation is ongoing and expects to make additional arrests. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the MPD at 641-754-5725 or to call anonymously at 641-753-1234.
