A late-night burglary attempt in LDA Colony, Lucknow, ended dramatically after police guided residents to set a trap, leading to the capture of three armed suspects, officials said.
According to police, the trio entered Sector F on a stolen motorcycle around 2:40 am on Saturday. They checked multiple houses and tried to break the lock of one whose occupants were away.
One resident immediately alerted the police via the 112 helpline. Officers gathered details and devised a plan to prevent the suspects from escaping, advising residents to discreetly block potential exit routes.
When the suspects spotted a police patrol vehicle, they attempted to flee but ran directly into a group of waiting residents. The locals overpowered them and handed them over to the police.
The arrested were identified as:
Abhishek Singh, of Motijheel Colony, Aishbagh, with eight prior criminal cases.
Aman Yadav alias Satyam, of E-Block, Rajajipuram, with 10 prior cases in Lucknow.
Shivam Yadav, from Hardoi.
Police confirmed that the accused were taken into custody for further investigation. The operation highlights the cooperation between citizens and police in preventing crime.
