Three Arrested in Kathmandu for Defrauding Foreign Job Seekers

Suspects deceived victims with promises of overseas employment

Kathmandu, Jan 6: Police have arrested three individuals for defrauding foreign employment aspirants with false promises of overseas jobs. The suspects are 28-year-old Rakesh Kumar Rawat from Godaita Municipality-10, Sarlahi district, 33-year-old Dudharaj Thing from Roshi Rural Municipality-11, Kavrepalanchok, and 34-year-old Prabha Shrestha from Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan Municipality-5, Dang.

Rakesh was apprehended in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-9 on Friday, Dudharaj was arrested in Lalitpur Mahalakshmi Municipality-9, and Prabha was detained in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-10 on Sunday.

The suspects had defrauded victims by taking large sums of money under the pretense of securing overseas employment. Rakesh took Rs 645,000 from one victim for a job in Mauritius, Dudharaj collected Rs 750,000 for a Canadian job, and Prabha took Rs 780,000 for a job in Singapore.

The arrested individuals have been sent to the Foreign Employment Department in Tahachal for further investigation and legal action.
