Three Arrested in Connection to Columbus Shooting of 17-Year-Old

Three individuals face charges following shooting of teenager on Bell Avenue

Columbus, MS – Law enforcement in Columbus has arrested three individuals in connection to a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy injured. The incident occurred on December 23rd in the 1700 block of Bell Avenue, after a family disturbance escalated into a violent confrontation.

Rufus Neal, 25, turned himself in to police on Monday night. He faces three counts of aggravated assault and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Demarcus Moore, 24, and Johnathon Courington, 20, were arrested by the SWAT team and charged with accessory after the fact.
The victim, who sustained a single gunshot wound, was initially taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. He was later transferred by helicopter to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson for further treatment.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the full details of the case.
