Three Arrested in Columbia for Abuse of Two Infants

Parents and Grandmother Charged After Infants Hospitalized

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Three individuals, including the parents and paternal grandmother of two infants under one year old, have been arrested for child abuse, authorities confirmed.

On January 31, deputies responded to a Columbia hospital after medical staff reported signs of physical abuse on the two infants.

Suspects Identified
The infants’ parents, identified as Amos R. Mobley Jr., 24, and Daija Benjamin, 23, were taken into custody. Additionally, the infants’ paternal grandmother, 62-year-old Anita Hingleton-Mobley, a former Richland One School District employee, was also arrested in connection with the case.

Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the extent of the injuries or potential additional charges. The investigation remains ongoing.
