BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — Three people are facing multiple felony charges after investigators discovered fentanyl during a traffic stop conducted in December, according to the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO).
Authorities said Jeremy Harris Bassett, Isaiah Storm Rodgers, and Katelyn Nicole Benedict were arrested following the stop and are currently being held without bond at the Brunswick County Detention Facility.
Vice and narcotics agents initiated the traffic stop on Thursday, Dec. 18, 2025, with assistance from a K-9 patrol unit. BCSO officials said the operation resulted in the seizure of a significant quantity of fentanyl.
All three suspects have been charged with two counts of trafficking in fentanyl, possession with intent to manufacture, sell, or deliver fentanyl, conspiracy to traffic opium and heroin, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bassett also faces a charge of maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substances. Benedict was additionally charged with obstructing justice.
Brunswick County Sheriff John Chism emphasized the importance of community involvement, stating that citizen cooperation is critical in reporting suspicious or illegal activity and maintaining public safety.
